Rohan Dahotre is an illustrator from India.
Rohan, where do you get your inspiration?
For me, the biggest source of inspiration is nature. There is so much to observe and learn from it like texture, forms, colors, patterns. And so much more to explore.
Which is the reletioship and influence beetween your cultural backgorund (country, studies, etc.) and your artworks?
I think India has so many different cultures, languages, places and even different art forms. There is unity in diversity. I feel my work is a lot like that. Since I like to experiment with different styles and mediums but keeping my identity the same.
What are you much focused in?
I love drawing fauna. There is so much variety in animals, birds, insects, marine creatures. Everytime I draw something, learn something new.
Have you encountered any difficulties when you first started your art/freelance career?
I was working for almost 5 years. Just started my freelance career since past 2 months. So have to explore that part.
Over these years, what is the most important thing you have learnt from your profession?
I have learnt to accept failure and learn from my mistakes. I feel that is the only way you progress in life.
Do you think that a creative job is just creativity or it’s discipline too?
It is creativity, it is discipline. But also passion.
Are you currently work on new projects?
I am currently working on a children storybook project. Few small projects. Also few personal projects that you will see on my instagram soon.
